Pay to Play Corruption

Something is fishy in Dutchess County.  Over the past six years, leading elected officials have awarded tens of millions of dollars in county contracts to private companies that helped fund those officials’ campaigns for office. (sources)

Legislation curbing political donations from companies that enter into contracts with county government was passed by the Rockland County Legislature in 1997, and by the Orange County Legislature in 2013

Given its passage in Rockland and Orange Counties, it is inexplicable why the Dutchess County Legislature refused to seriously consider a nearly identical resolution

There is a clear disconnect between the will of the people and the majority party that supposedly represents them.  Residents deserve for pay-to-play and other corruption-enabling loopholes to be legally closed.
